Description This unit provides a practical foundation for students wishing to pursue study in photography, screen or creative media production. Emphasis is upon developing strong photographic skills, sophisticated digital editing skills and familiarity with the digital workflow. Students have the opportunity to choose from an exciting range of projects and hone their skills in industry-standard applications. Alongside the development of creative portfolio work, students develop an understanding of photographic history, style and genre. Students produce an essay on photographic culture.
Contact time Lectures: 1 hour per week; workshops: 2 hours per week.
Prerequisites Nil.
Exclusions Students who have successfully completed MED102 Photography may not enrol in this unit for credit.
Notes This unit is offered in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 in order to ensure that students have reasonable access to the School's photographic equipment.
Quota This unit is subject to quota. Quota is due to space and equipment constraints and the supervision demands of a production environment. Preference is given to BMedia, BCommunication and BDMedia Majors.
