Description This unit aims to introduce students to the diversity of Australian Indigenous Cultures. It emphasises the resilience of Indigenous cultures in the face of constantly changing social and political landscapes. Students will become familiar with the differing regional identities, their stories, histories and experiences of colonisation. Practical engagement with Indigenous cultures will be in the form of guest speakers, and excursions where appropriate.
Contact time Lecture: 1 hour; workshop: 1.5 hours
Prerequisites Nil.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
Exclusions Students who have completed AIS174 Contemporary Indigenous Cultural Expression or AIS177 Introduction to Nyungar Culture may not enrol in this unit for credit.
