Description This unit aims to provide a broad overview of technology for environmentally sound development, and the necessary understanding for evaluating technology for specific situations. It explores the production, use and application of renewable resources, and considers technology in the areas of agriculture, water, wastes, shelter, energy, transport and materials. The unit covers technologies for climate change adaptation and carbon neutral development relevant to developing countries, isolated communities, and urban villages, drawing on case studies from around of the world.
Contact time Lectures: 2 hours per week; workshops: 2 hours per week or equivalent.
Prerequisites ENV104 Australian Environmental Issues or ENV102 Introduction to Environmental Science.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
Notes Graduate, Postgraduate and Honours students should enrol in the higher-level code for this unit except where the course structure states otherwise.
